Hi dllfo,
The palatal tissue is very thick and resilient. After the tissue is removed, it will feel similar to a pizza burn for a day or so. Rinsing with the chlorhexadine will help with the healing. The palatal tissue starts to grow back very quickly in a clean mouth and slower in one that has bacteria accumulating.
Within 2-3 weeks, the palatal tissue will be new again! Chances are that your graft sites will be rotated and not taken from the exact areas for all 3 teeth.
It is also a good idea to have a healthy diet of soft foods pre planned so you maintain proper nutrition during the healing phase. Vitamin supplementation and arnica pellets are also very helpful as well as adequate water intake every day to keep hydrated and keep the saliva flowing.
If you smoke, now is a great time to stop. Smoking will impede the healing and could prevent the grafted tissue and palate from healing.
Again... please keep us posted on how you are doing! All the best to you!
Bryanna

Does anyone know how long it takes for the skin to grow back on the roof of our mouth once they take it off? I don't know if they are going to scrape it off or cut it in sections, but I have too many problems to fix in one visit.
I will have to go back at least one more time, maybe twice more.
Anyone know "roughly" how long it takes for the skin to grow back?
Thanks, Dave
