This has most likely been discussed but it's new to me and just came in so thought I'd post.

The paper that is alluded to in the link was published in 2005.
It was a very small study (7 subjects) Treatment of Parkinson disease with diet-induced hyperketonemia: a feasibility study. - PubMed - NCBI . Because of this I think that it would be premature to conclude that a ketogenic diet may benefit people with PD.

Thanks for posting.
Going Keto doesn't require a prescription (no $ incentive for the drug companies) so not surprised it wasn't pursued further. That said, going Keto requires a strict dietary change. Anyone try it? |

Fats are important and avoiding grains as I understand it. Doesn't sound that tough as I see it. Personally and I don't have PD, I use coconut oil daily and 1/2 avocado both higher fats and eat some meats with higher fats. |

I haven't read any of the links that this topic has however I try to do the 18/6 thing (18 hrs of no food only water) and 6 hrs of eating each 24hrs which should give me more ketones! It tends to be a slightly more realistic 14-15 hrs of no food just water. As time goes on I'm very happy to report that I've lost a few extra kilos with little effort besides which if I don't eat then my anti parkinson meds give me a much better and longer on time. |
