What does everyone do for a new injury to your crps limb? Do you ice it? I was bitten by a dog yesterday (not mine) on one of my impacted limbs and am not really sure what to do. I have a call in to my doctor but am curious how others handle it. Thanks in advance.

Sorry for the delay.
I can never ice mine or the pain comes back full strength. I take a little extra gabapentin and grape seed extract. If I'm experiencing increased pain from the affected limb I take ultram and if any general pain then tramadol, acetaminophen, tylenol 3, or ibuprofen as appropriate. I avoid the pain killers otherwise. Of course I worry a lot, too. I've had mild injuries to the affected limb and each time bounced right back. But once I injured a different limb and the RSD came out of a partial remission. |

Just my luck. I got 30 days' worth of antibiotics. The rash continued to be there for a year taking up half my bottom leg, itching like crazy, so totally out of the ordinary, because normally this rarely itches. And every spring since then the rash sort of re-occurs. But my RSD/CRPS thankfully "took it well". Or, is it that due to the fact that I have RSD/CRPS the reaction was rather "fierce"... which it was! It was just... odd. What did your doctor say, because by now you have seen him. Sorry for my late reply!

So far so good - the injury is healing and the pain has been bearable. They told me to take vitamin C and calcium (which I do every day anyways) and said I can take increased pain meds if needed. I haven't needed to yet. I am seeing a different doctor for the dog bite as it has puncture wounds and is high risk for infection since it's a bite on my hand on my crps limb. But so far so good!!

For a new limb injury I will do my own Sphnoid block that my anesthologist taught me to do on myself, so i can do it morning and evening till it shuts down again.
Also there is an important use of Klonopin. ( name brand is best, as generic does not work). It will also shut down the pain. The pain is from the seizing from the sympathetic nervous system in overdrive as well as the acetocholine not flowing properly down the mylan sheath. I also do some homeopathics. A bite is a puncture, so Ledum is for that. arsinicicom works for the pain of RSD. The block, if you google it it is down for stopping migraines, but it is extremely helful with RSD. My anesthologist in NM taught it to me using a long 1 sided cutie with 4% liquid lidocaine. A life safer for sure!! |
