Hi guys and gals,
I had to take a break. I need a new computer. My old computer which isn't that old is out of date and sometimes just isn't workinig properly. I can no longer update anything at all. I dropped in briefly to leave a quick message on another thread hoping it would post and it did. It was sad to post but I'm happy it posted. Hope you're all doing well and I've missed you all even people who probaby don't read social chat. . I've also moved north again so getting too close to the equator now lol. Ahhh but the beauty!! take care and talk later, love Lara in FNQ |

I just saw this--I'm so glad you're still checking in.
I hope you can manage with the aging computer. I have one of those aging computers too and understand. Congratulations on what sounds like a good move!

Thanks agate. I've moved back to where I grew up when little and lived here a few years on and off. I used to post my photos here of my morning trips to the jetty every day for msdD. I miss her.
I've just been out for breakfast. Posting a couple of photos. One I found of a cute book exchange at the beach and the other is just the view. Breakfast was great if not a little busy and noisy for my brain. I'll need a while to get over the over stimulation. I bought a little sit on scooter. It doesn't go on the road, but it's okay for shopping centres and for pathways along the beach strips here. Gives me a little independence which I lost some years back. Hope you're doing well Chemar, Jomar, agate and Kitt. |

So nice to hear from you!
I still pop in here now and then. I still believe in the viability of message boards as a good resource for people with neurological disorders that often limit our contact with the world. I love your scenic photo--very soothing view! The book exchange looks like the Little Free Library that I've seen in my area. In fact, my son and DIL have one. The ones I've seen are more like boxes on a post. Your example is probably better protection for the books. Little Free Libraries seem to be quite popular around here, and it's good to know that some people are still reading books. Or at least acquiring them.

p.s. most importantly, I have added that i totally agree with you about people needing message boards such as this. I don't know what I would have done without it over the years and also the years at the other place too. So much knowledge shared as well. It's easier for me to communicate on the computer than face to face anyway, so it's been a godsend so to speak.
We have a very big library in my suburb. I love books too although I admit to giving most away because I just couldn't move them anymore. Plus, with all the hot humid weather, all my special ones had become very discoloured and yukky. Sad really. Best thing about my move is there are no snakes here. I was seeing dangerous snakes almost everyday until 3 months ago with the move north. Horrible time. Meet Tofu and Chilibean. Daughter and I have a couple new babies. They're nearly a year old now. These were when they were about 8 weeks old. Chili was a feral rescue and Tofu was a rescue as well but appears to be a RagDoll. Tofu looked after Chili when they were new and they bonded as a pair so we took them both. Tofu keeps Chili calm and Chili keeps me anxious. lol They're inside cats. I'll see if their pics come out |

Hi @Lara, I just joined this site after learning about it at MySupportForums, which used to be PyscheCentral.
My wife and I love our municipal libraries! We have book exchanges here, too. We call them Tiny Free Libraries, because they really are tiny. They're just a little cabinet on a post, with about a couple of dozen books. But this makes it easy for residents to set up their own at the end of their driveways. We'd have one too, except that we live on a very busy road that's used for emergency vehicle traffic. What's your favorite genre? I like either fantasy, such as Neil Gaiman, Brandon Sanderson, or nonfiction related to diet & medical, especially alternative and natural lifestyle approaches. I've read a few books about breathing, actually. |

Nice to meet you. Welcome to the NeuroTalk Support Groups!
I enjoy autobiographies (and biographies depending on who has written it about another person). Non fiction here too mostly although I have some favourite fiction books. Too many to list really, Couple of my old favs below. The Shadow of the Wind - Carlos Zafon. The Alchemist -Coelho The Princes of Ireland - Rutherford Presently reading The Light We Carry - Michelle Obama I read a few health books as well often about our plant based diet and different ways of living and cooking. Can't afford to buy those often but I like to have my own in the kitchen. When younger I was into Asimov, Frank Herbert and others. Had all the Foundation books and more. They were snapped up for pittance by a local 2nd hand book store. I wish I still had them but they were from the 70s so not aged well. I don't find it as easy to read as I used to. My brain wanders. |

Lara, Tofu and Chilibean look like wonderful companions! I'm so glad they're indoor cats. I hear such alarming things about what happens to outdoor cats.
SquarePegGuy, welcome! I like to read too. I get library books in recorded form through the Talking Books program. I'm not legally blind but have MS problems that make me eligible (impaired vision and difficulty holding printed material). I read some fiction and biography as well as nonfiction. I've been reading true-crime accounts sometimes too. My son's Little Free Library has been in place for some years now. It's handy for me as a way to offer books I no longer want to people who might want them. I still have about 200 print books. I've been gradually paring this collection down. Many of them are many decades old and falling apart but I keep hanging onto them.
