sorry to hear about your cat Doydie
Our local county animal shelters and the SPCA cremate at $10 which is much less than the vets, and the funds go to supporting their shelters.

Oh My God, I am soooo sorry you had to go thru this. You know I am struggling with a sick cat, so you know the worry, and the care, and the watchful eye, and you expect that it will be all ok in the end.
Jack sends you a fur baby hug. You said something about blood in her urine. Was she sick before? Call your vet and ask if they offer cremation services or have ideas as to what to do. They may offer an autopsy to help you figure out what went wrong. We are all weapy here for your loss. im sorry.

I am sorry, Doydie. The loss of a cat leaves a big hole in the heart. I've just drawn my three closer as I read this.
Here (Boston) the vet can have it cremated for a small fee and put into a mass grave. The ASPCA, who has an animal hospital here, will do the same. Either will give you the option of having the remains returned to you. Animal Control will pick up dead animals on request. We are not supposed to bury our pets and plant a rose bush but that happens. Hugs from Gandhi, Lily & Kofi. |

Adora was a fairly young cat. I think she was 5. Her personality had changed drastically lately, less socialable, biting us when we try to play, pee on anything, hiding more.
We have talked a lot about her today. I am trying to get my husband to talk the most, he hides his feelings a lot. It took me all day to finally clean up her little box and feeding supplies. The bucket of litter hadn't been opened yet so I will give it to my daughter and she will give it to a local animal rescue group she is a member of. You all may not like how we handled it but I called our local animal shelter this morning they accept a dead pet for a charge of $5.00. We were surprised they didn't ask for name or check to see what was in the bag.

I'm so sorry your precious kitty passed away.
No judgements here on how you handled the remains.

agreed! no judgement. You handled it in the best way you knew how to do, and it fit in your budget, and family wishes. Nothing else matters.
I said an extra prayer for you and adora last night. I am so sorry you had to go thru that.

We had a young cat around the same age die very quickly of kidney failure. The vet said he was probably either born with an abnormality or since he was a shelter animal, might have gotten an illness in the shelter when he was a kitten that damaged his kidneys.
I'm so sorry you lost a furbaby. That is so hard. I do know what it is like to find a pet like that so I'm sending out lots of hugs to you.
