Default Head Jerk From Startle Reflex

If you jerk your head back sharply in a startle reflex in attempt to avoid something hitting your face, is there enough force in that movement to cause another concussion?

Around 9 months PCS and almost walked into a branch yesterday, jerked back extremely suddenly with a sharp stop at the end to avoid it.

No that would not cause a new Concussion..
Most body motions just do not have the power to injure that way..

You may have some lingering neck muscle strain that may flare up.. if so treat for sore muscles.. ice/heat, OTC pain med, some massage ...

Concerns about minor actions or small bumps is often asked about.. read other posts here to see the pattern, it may help you to avoid the over focus scenario.

Thanks so much for the quick reply! Because it was such a sudden start/stop it worried me but this made me feel a lot better, and it's good to know I'm not alone.

You have had startle jerks like this your entire life. We all do.

Why is this a concern now?

What are you worried about?

I guess I'm worried jerking / stopping with extra force cause the amount i get startled by a branch in my way is a lot more intense than it used to be earlier in my life.

But I suppose the chances are that it's more likely that it's just now my attention automatically goes to my head and that fear creates the sensation of it feeling much more intense, when it reality it's the same bodily movement I've experienced many times in life!

Again, what are you worried about?

Is this just a rhetorical/hypothetical question or do you have a specific fear?

Specific fear would be that of a new concussion

That is not an answer.

What if it was a new concussion? What would you be worried about?

What could that worry accomplish to change anything?

What would you do different if it was a new concussion or it was not a concussion?

How would your life change?

In simple terms. What difference would it make?

Nobody can treat the event. They can only treat the symptoms.
