I ended up at the neuros office this week after going to my dentist with an increase in Type 2 TN pain and my usual go to med wasn't kicking the pain down. My face is also swollen on the affected side and I've had facial swelling before with some of my early TN attacks. Needless to say, the xrays and all the dental tests didn't reveal any tooth/teeth problems. I thought to ask at the neuros office why my face is swollen and I finally got an answer which is "...when the nerve is inflamed, it can/does cause swelling." I'm just sharing this so if it happens to you, you won't think you've lost your marbles like I did on a few occasions.
